HONEY TRAILS AT HONEY HILL NATURE RESERVE
At Honey Trails we have recognised that there is a great need during this present time for people to relieve themselves of the confines imposed by the lock down so we’ve opened the trails for every day use by the public to come in their own time. This will suit the lock down regulations and your personal schedule.
The Honey Hill, Honey Trails Story…
Honey Hill is now Honey Hill Nature Reserve in honour of Veena Berlein 1961 – 2017. Honey Trails was co-created by Veena before her passing to offer hiking running and cycling opportunities for the public to experience the incredible natural beauty of ‘Honey Hill’ with its surrounding forested valleys which have previously been inaccessible.
The “Hill” has been left in its natural state for more than 5 decades. As such, the property is a refuge to wildlife, haven for birds, a sanctuary for wild flowers in the veld and home to some truly magnificent trees such as the Cabbage and Flatcrown.
We offer 5, 10 and 15km trails on site and hold other trail events in different locations.
The trails are accessible 7 days a week, just park outside the gate. R20pp Honesty Box and Zapper code on the gate.
The Trail
The trail starts on the plateau and first winds its way down into the forested valley as seen at the top of the map. It then reemerges on top and then back down on the other side for the 10 and 15 km loops.
Front Entrance
As seen above the entrance is exactly at the top of the “infamous” Inchanga Hill on the Comrades route directly off Old Main Road.
