MONTESEEL ATTRACTIONS
Monteseel – Inchanga, Outer West Durban in Kwa-Zulu Natal, a province of South Africa.
Monteseel is a residential area that is nestled within a conservation area, approximately half way between Durban and Pietermaritzburg. It’s a quiet area often found in a thick blanket of mist or even above the clouds at 826 meters above sea level. On a clear day, you can see the Indian Ocean and in winter the snow on the Drakensberg mountains. It is the most popular climbing venue in Natal. The rock is superb quality sandstone and on top of the cliffs is beautiful sandstone sourveld grassland.
Monteseel Conservancy is registered with KwaZulu Natal Nature Conservation Board and dedicated to the conservation and maintenance of the total environment in the Monteseel area.
With trails, rock climbing, the Hacienda Country Pub, Bunny Farm and breath taking scenery, Monteseel is a destination not to miss.
Here we list some of the things to do in the area.

ROCK CLIMBING MONTESEEL
The cliffs at Monteseel are the most popular traditional climbing venue in KwaZulu-Natal, and people have been recorded climbing here since the 1940s. It has been the scene of many historic developments in South African climbing. For example, the oldest recorded climb in KZN, Hot Plate (Grade 9, first climbed in 1941 by Charles Axelson, Sherman Ripley and Ted Gathercole) is to be found in the central area of the cliffs, just two minutes walk from the main parking spot.
