Monteseel has a few trails open to the public. Below are the trails you can walk unguided.
Distances measured from the park:
Trail 1 – Richards Path – approximately 2km – moderate
Trail 2 – Mandala Path – approximately 2km – moderate but on the cliff edge
This site offers amazing scenic views of the Valley of 1000 Hills which is described by the National Geographic Magazine as one of the Seven Wonders of Southern Africa and has been moulded by nature right round Monteseel.

Richards Path
A tribute to Richard – written by Sylvia Tempest
Richard’s Path came about through our love of the peace and tranquility of Monteseel. For years we walked our dogs up and down the roads of Monteseel, always hassled by the barking and baying of dogs in the neighbourhood. And, so, we figured, if we just ducked into the grassland, just below the road in Rosemarie Avenue/Grand Boulevard, we were out of sight, and could meander to our hearts content in peace and quiet. So we began tramping out a path, beginning at the Rosemarie Avenue viewsite, following the contours of the rocks and grasses.
We’ve watched the grasses change with each season … from emerald green to fields of gold. Stood in awe at the abundance of wildflowers with the first splash of Spring rain. Gushed at the beauty of our Winter aloes. Watched the Lanner Falcons in aerial combat. And spent many an hour sitting on the huge rocks just drinking in the view of The Valley of 1000 Hills spread out before us.
And so, over the years, Richard’s Path has deepened, and has now become part of the trails of Monteseel.

There is also a guided Cycad Walk which is held on a regular basis. Please follow our Facebook page for more info.
