Trees that might be found in the forest around Monteseel:  as suggested by Trafford Petterson

Acacia nilotica  and A. siberiana-woodii
Combretum molle and C. kraussii
Cussonia – not sure which species spicata?
Dombeya rotundifolia as well as D. cymosa and D.burgessiae
Ficus natalensis, F.sur, F.lutea, F.ingens and F.glumosa and F. thonningii
Grewia occidentalis
Halleria lucida
Podocarpus latifolius (I think)- the ones down in the valley are falcatus.
Protorhus longifolia
Sclerocarya birrea
Syzygium cordatum
Vangueria infausta
Albizia adianthifolia
Bridelia micrantha
Trema orientalis These are all fast growing pioneer species- good trees, but keep them far away from the grasslands.

Euclea crispa (lots on the cycad side of the valley)

Peddiaea africana- very toxic, but grows in the forest down in the valley.
Heteropyxis natalensis –forest margins to full sun
Rhus (think they’ve changes their name) chirendensis

Vepris lanceolata
Calodendrum capense
Zanthoxylum davyi
Deinbollia oblongifolia- excellent for butterfly’s.
Apodytes dimidiate

Schotia brachypetala – likes dry, sunny slopes.
Erythrina latissima – lots growing along the railway line- slow growing but such a stunning tree.
